Minolta Hi-Matic 11 with Lomography Potsdam

As usual, my photo taking got off to a slow start this year since I’m not a big fan of winter. Thanks to some breaks in the weather, I did get out twice in February with my Minolta Hi-Matic 11. I didn’t quite finish the roll that month but was able to get out in early March to finish it.

I’ve used Lomography Potsdam twice before, once with my Olympus OM-1 and once with my Canon EOS Rebel 2000. I liked the results enough that I wanted to shoot with it again. I decided to go with the Hi-Matic since that’s takes reliably good photos.

Once again, I was generally pleased with Lomography Potsdam.

The first 2 photos exhibit some kind of light leak or other exposure issues. When I first viewed my scans, I was worried that the entire roll was affected, but it turned out to be just those first 2 frames.

Holly and I took a walk along the Schuylkill River Trail yet again. We feel fortunate to live close to such a great place to walk. No matter how many times we’ve been there, I find different subjects to shoot or, at least, different ways to capture familiar subjects.

We walked the path to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and then headed toward the Fairmount neighborhood.

We got out for another walk about 3 weeks later. For that outing, we headed toward the University City section of Philadelphia. We hadn’t been that way in quite a while so there was a lot of new construction since out last visit.

A few days later, in early March, I finished the roll on our way home from brunch.

We came across a new, magnificent mural by Roberto Mamani Mamani. I figured black and white pictures of it could be interesting, but I definitely wanted to capture the vibrant colors so I also took some photos with my Samsung Galaxy S9+.

After liking my results with Lomography Potsdam 3 times now, I’ll probably use it somewhat regularly. With film getting so expensive, I’ll less inclined to experiment with unfamiliar stocks and lean into those I know and like.
